A Slow Month
November was another challenging month for this blog. I only published one recipe near the beginning of the month, and then publishing was difficult. Not to say I wasn’t cooking, baking, etc. Thanksgiving allowed me to flex my kitchen muscles and also built out my recipe book for that holiday meal.
Good news! A non-cooking project that has taken up a lot of my time in the last couple of months is wrapping up in early December, freeing up a bunch of time to experiment in the kitchen and actually write about it. I hope to plow through my recipe backlog and fill the website up with tasty treats.
Expenses
No new costs to mention. So far, my initial investment is covering the operations of the blog, with no monthly expenses to take into account. I am eyeing a couple of upgrades which will give me more functionality in a couple of places. I am also looking into several pieces of training so I can better understand what I am doing.
Income
There was no income to report this month for October. I am going to throw a party when this happens, even a penny, but until then I am keeping my head down and producing the best content I can. For now, I am producing content as there is a direct correlation between content creation and how many people come through from social media posts.
- Bluehost: As my hosting website, they are doing a great job. I totally recommend them if you are starting a website. Their customer service has really helped me solve some issues this month.
- Amazon affiliate: December will be the first month in which I register for Amazon associate program. I hope to link useful products in each blog post and see what happens. They give you 3 months to get 3 sales, which seems entirely doable if I post as much as I hope.
- Advertising program: I need some SEO traction before I can get in with an advertising firm to get ads on the site. Small steps.
Recipes
November was a miserable failure in regards to publishing content. Other things popped up, life got in the way, etc. Not to say I wasn’t cooking, experimenting, and documenting. I just couldn’t find the energy to write about it. I hope to flood December with content to make up for the dry spell.
