May Brings Gardens & Grills
Vacations, the end of school, and warmer weather pushed us to outdoor dining until weather gets too hot. So we are practicing our grilling and other outdoor recipes so we can enjoy the weather. The garden is also in full swing, so we will
Blog Traffic
Traffic was in it’s third month of geometric growth, up 110% in organic traffic. It looks like things are really picking up and the SEO writing is finally paying off. I am so glad to see this sort of progress, and I am equally glad that our recipes are reaching more people. Hopefully, this will continue as we add more content and it isn’t exclusively a seasonal shift.
Expenses
There were no expenses for the website this month. I have a few upgrades in the works, which I am excited about, but that will probably be implemented sometime this summer. The Feast plugin and upgrading WPRM to the pro version are a few of those things I plan to invest in.
Income
Using the Chicory plugin, the website made $0.11 which is about double the average income from March and April. It is trending with traffic so I am hopeful it will keep trending the same way.
- Bluehost: As my hosting website, they are doing a great job. I totally recommend them if you are starting a website. Their customer service has really helped me solve some issues this month.
- Name Cheap: This is where I purchased this sweet domain name, and I have nothing but good things to say about this website registrar.
- Amazon affiliate: I have started using amazon affiliate links in all of my posts, and I will go back and add them to previous posts. It is quite easy to do, so I recommend it to anyone who is starting a blog.
- Google Adsense: I applied and finally got accepted for Google Adsense! I know it doesn’t give as much as Mediavine or the like, but its a start and Im excited to implement it going forward and see what happens.
- Chicory Plugin: The primary source of income so far, this little plugin places a single adaptive ad on the recipe card. So far we have made $0.23 from this plugin, but it is trending with traffic.

It can help research a topic or take an article and compare it to others across the web, so you can see how to compete and gain rank. It has really helped with optimizing my articles this month, so check it out. Frase.io
Month’s Recipes
This month we continued with our holiday recipe series with a lovely Cinco de Mayo based menu, along with a couple random recipes as well. We also started the series on sauces, which I am totally excited about! Enjoy!
