Easter Recipes are Hard, Sauces are Not
In our house, April has Easter and spring to think about. Easter recipes however are hard. It’s usually eggs, eggs, eggs, dying them, etc. So I had trouble coming up with egg recipes worth sharing. I was able to segue into some desserts and sauces which were great, and it has inspired me to take a deeper dive into sauces in the coming months when I don’t have anything to write about.
Blog Traffic
This is the exciting part of writing, the sharing it with people. The goal of any website is to get a good thing going with google. I can shout about what I am doing all day on social media, and it works really well. But the moment I stop shouting, people stop showing up. Google, on the other hand, is like setting up a sign, and the better I write the bigger the sign gets. The more I write, the more signs I get. So the goal is to write great content often, which is difficult but it seems I am covering my bases and least this month. With only 201 people visiting us this month, it is a little disheartening. However, 81 of them came from google which is almost 3X from last month. I am hopeful that if I keep writing content worth reading and recipes worth making, this number will continue to grow.
Expenses
There were no new expenses this month. Running a blog day to day in the beginning is pretty cheap, and I suggest it to everyone if you have a passion to write about.
Income
I had another $0.03 reported this month, but it was earned in March. The report seems to be a month behind which is fine. That bring the grand total up to $0.06 for all time. Only pennies, but it suggests I am doing something right. I am hopeful it will grow with traffic.
And if you find yourself scorning the pennies, think about it this way. If that amount increases by 50% for 24 months, it is $500/month. That would pay most of my mortgage and it would be life-changing. As traffic increases, I can also qualify for other advertisers to increase this number even more!
- Bluehost: As my hosting website, they are doing a great job. I totally recommend them if you are starting a website. Their customer service has really helped me solve some issues this month.
- Name Cheap: This is where I purchased this sweet domain name, and I have nothing but good things to say about this website registrar.
- Amazon affiliate: I have started using amazon affiliate links in all of my posts, and I will go back and add them to previous posts. It is quite easy to do, so I recommend it to anyone who is starting a blog.
- Chicory: Chicory is a unique ad program that embeds in the recipe card, and it’s only one small ad. It targets the recipe ingredients so it is a good way to go about advertising without being totally obnoxious.

Month’s Recipes
This month was supposed to be about easter recipes, but almost none of them came out worth eating. So I wrote a couple of sauce recipes for April and I hope to expand on that selection in the following months.
