Income Generated!
I am overjoyed to announce that we made our first income this month! More accurately we made it in January, but it was recorded in March. The only ads on my site, from the chicory plugin, generated a whopping $0.03 in January, and it was reported in March and paid through Paypal. While not significant as a paycheck, it signifies to me that my efforts here are reaching people and that plugin is working. In theory, if that number goes up by 50% each month, I would have a significant income in 2 years. Now, there’s a lot of work to even have a shot at that, but here’s to hoping!
As for future developments, we are working on getting our email list built, with sign-ups and a proper newsletter. We are trying out Convert Kit as our plugin of choice, at the recommendation from the FIMP family. We will see how it goes.
ALSO! We have finally written up a new page for Holiday recipes. To start with, our New Year’s Meal is the first to get a dedicated page. The goal is to get each meal a dedicated page through the year, as opposed to just a pile of recipes. Hopefully, someone finds them useful because I know I will next New Year’s Day.
Blog Traffic
Writing for a website is all about google traction, well as of 2021 at least. Having readers passively find this website through searching google is golden and almost no extra effort from me to make happen. Compare that to constant interaction through social media in 5 different directions and it gets really obvious why this is a good thing. Consider it the baseline of traffic, and any social media engagement is bonus clicks. Write quality content and this chart goes up, easy as that.
Expenses
In March 2021 I splurged for a logo. I used Fiverr and the experience couldn’t have been better. It took about 5 days to complete and the cost was $65. For those keeping track, I cashed in some amazon rewards from my Amazon rewards credit card to pay for it, so it was paid for with bonus money anyway. Logo below!
Income
As mentioned above, we earned $0.03 in January and it was reported this month. Doesn’t even make a dent in the expenses, but it is exciting to have something to mention here. Here’s to more

- Name Cheap: This is where I purchased this sweet domain name, and I have nothing but good things to say about this website registrar.
- Amazon affiliate: I have started using amazon affiliate links in all of my posts, and I will go back and add them to previous posts. It is quite easy to do, so I recommend it to anyone who is starting a blog.
- Advertising program: I need some SEO traction before I can get in with an advertising firm to get ads on the site. Small steps.
Use the below links to save money on the different sites by using my referral code. Using my links gives us a small referral fee and supports our efforts here, so thank you!

Month’s Recipes
This month we focused on St. Patrick’s Day recipes have a few more that need to be finished and published. In theory, I should be writing these ahead of the holiday so people can use them this year. That has proved challenging, so I am just publishing them when I can. These are family recipes anyway, not gimmicky holiday nonsense, so hopefully, you and yours can make it throughout the year.
